Customer Reviews about US Social Security Administration:

  • The five stars has more to do with the SSA worker who helped me. I wish I'd caught her name. Some background you'll need to know to place this in context is that I have an autism spectrum disorder. I had an issue with my insurance (MA-EPD, through Hennepin County) requiring me to provide proof that I applied for Medicare in order to keep my MA-EPD insurance coverage. The issue with that is that there is no application process for Medicare for people receiving SSDI. This is clearly stated on the SSA website. It is also clearly evident from the information they provide that I do not yet qualify for Medicare. This is information that is easily accessible, that MA-EPD should be well aware of and yet they were insisting that they would cancel my insurance unless I provided proof of my participation in this application process that does not exist, the end result of which I wouldn't qualify for even if the process did exist. Although this was my first experience having to interact in person with SSA and the first time MA-EPD required their direct participation, I have been sent on similar wild goose chases to other places of business/organizations/random unrelated locations every 1 - 4 months, wherein I'm required to provide proof of something that doesn't exist at the cost of losing my insurance. Because of complications associated with my autism, the process of fulfilling these demands has caused a sort of PTSD response, making it even more excruciating. I tend to have an immediate autistic meltdown as soon as I open my mouth. So, in anticipation of this, before going to SSA to try to fulfill MA-EPD's most recent request, I typed the entire explanation I imagined they'd need in order to understand the (legitimately confusing) reason for my presence there and the related request, so that I wouldn't have to speak and then could avoid breaking down in public and causing a scene. I also have hearing loss, which makes it almost impossible to hear in a waiting room setting, like the one at this location. So, when I arrived at the location, I chose a spot right in front of the monitors so that I could see the numbers that were called. However, when the monitor flashed with my number, there was no location listed. I panicked and begged the person next to me to help me figure out who was calling me and where it was coming from. Luckily, she was a nice lady and helped me out, even though I'm pretty sure she had no idea why I needed it and I'm afraid I may have come off as a crazy person. But, anyway, thanks to her, I made it to the window before the person assigned to help me moved on. When I made it to the window, I showed the person what I had typed and she was SO KIND. I was very anxious, because people are generally impatient with me, regardless of how much I try to prepare them. She was the opposite. Her demeanor was warm and very respectful. After she finished reading, she told me that I should sit back down and someone else would come to help me. At that point I explained that I had hearing loss and that I didn't come to her window right away because I couldn't hear her. So, she said she'd make a note of that and that she'd also tell the person what I was wearing so they could locate me. After I sat back down, this same person came to my seat a few minutes later and said she'd bring the form I needed filled out by an SSA representative to the person for me. When it was filled out, she brought it back to me. I didn't have to worry about hearing anything, because she came to me. I did end up crying on the way home, but it was because I was so relieved to have been treated kindly and so grateful for this person who treated me with dignity and respect, without any criticism or judgement. It's an extremely rare thing for me to experience in these situations, due to my social deficits. After reading so many reviews to prepare for the encounter (both at this location and the one in downtown Mpls), the SSA was the last place I would have expected to have such an experience.

You need to state very clearly on your website that this office does not handle replacement social security cards. Drove 40 minutes just to read a sign on a kiosk that I cannot get a new card from this office and no help on were I can go! This was the closest office to my home.

I now have to update my review from the last visit I was here. The woman who spoke with me her name was Jeany spoke and acted on behalf of a great ominous evil. She declared as an assailant of the government that all people will be stripped of their ssi benefits and be left to perish in order to fund money for war that goes on in the world. This is proof this she is an agent of the lizard squad which is a metaphor for fascist finest. In other words history is repeating itself they are taking social security money and funding it for a possible upcoming world war 3 and they are starting by issuing eugenics towards the disabled and the weak through unethical government practices. These fascist finest must be exposed for the crimes they are committing on humanity. You can never compromise with these people as they already targeted us for death. I'm not sure what to do but one thing is for sure we must boycott the war in order to bring back prosperity to our country and negate amnesty towards any corrupted bureaucrat worker or politician from doing these atrocities. We have a reason not to fear and not to trust our government and this is the reason why I don't vote anymore. We'll take our rights back from us that they stole by force! DEATH TO THE BUREAUCRATS!!!
